$100,000
RAISED AT THE 3rd ANNUAL OAK LEAF GALA
IN SUPPORT OF VILLA LEONARDO GAMBIN LONG TERM
CARE RESIDENCE
For Immediate Release:
Vaughan, ON – December 7, 2004.
The Gala Committee proudly announces that the 3rd
Annual Oak Leaf Gala, held on Friday, December
3, 2004, raised in excess of $100,000. Net
proceeds from the Gala will be directed towards
the $3 million Building a Mosaic of Care Capital
Fundraising Campaign.
Chaired by Toronto Police Chief
Julian Fantino, the Oak Leaf Gala had many
international, national, provincial as well as
local dignitaries in attendance who showed their
support for the recently opened Villa Leonardo
Gambin long-term care residence. Approximately
five hundred guests attended the event.
A Live Auction ranging from
jewellery to art was part of the festivities,
with the most memorable item being “A Day With
The Chief” provided by Police Chief Julian
Fantino. After gentle prodding from the Master
of Ceremonies, Ted Woloshyn, a winning bid of
$10,000 was placed by Mr. Ralph Chiodo
(President of QEW-427 Chrysler, Peel Chrysler
and Active Green + Ross).
"It is incredible what can be
achieved when people join together to work
toward a common goal. There is a chronic need
for long term care beds and the opening of our
residence will help to alleviate the situation.
The Gala is intended to not only garner
financial support but to also heighten public
awareness,” said Clara Astolfo, Villa Leonardo
Gambin – FLTC Charity Board member and Chair,
Fundraising Committee.
Canform Structures Limited and
Future Steel Buildings were the Oak Leaf Gala’s
two Presenting Sponsors. The Gala’s Gold Sponsor
was Magnotta Winery. The Gala’s Bronze Sponsors
included: HSBC Bank Canada; Sherwood Plumbing
Supply Inc.; and Specialty Care Inc.
